Hello everyone. I've just finished producing the first episode of a dream-themed fantasy series I'm writing. I have a whole range of music and sound effects, and technically speaking it's my best sounding work to date. Since there are so many avid audiobook listeners here on the Zone, I thought it might be a good place to post the finished product. I would love some honest feedback; criticism and praise are both very helpful, as I plan to use this project as a demo. So please do me a favor and give it a listen, and let me know what you think. For those familiar with my "A Contract of Souls" production, or Graphicaudio productions, mine is in the same realm as that.

I'm proud to announce I finally got my grade back for this project. I got 100%, which is a new feeling. I also got some great feedback from y instructor; things I already knew, but were nice to have pointed out. hopefully some of you enjoy this and will comment.

I listened to about the first half of this. I plan to listen to the rest later.
Just wanted to drop a line and say great job.
I'm really impressed with the quality of this, especially for a school project. It sounds professional.
Way to go man.

I will listen and tell you if you are a business person or a writer. Whatever lets make
millions. You have to be talented and understand patends and liscensing.

Sounds good! I listened to about the first half, in various headphones and speakers. My only comment, would be the Vox, are a bit heavy top end wise, and light on lows. I have a pair of mdr 7506 headphones which typically over emphasize the low end of anything, and it felt light even in these. The Sibilant sounds could maybe be tamed a bit, but again overall, very nice!

Thank you everyone. The suggestions listed are ones I do intend to fix. equalization is one area of audio production I am still trying to rap my head around.

I'd be happy to help if you'd ever like assistance. Did you use any sort of limiter when you were done, or on a master fader to increase all around volume? How much, or what sort of compression are you using on the individual trakcs. If you ever wish to colaberate, and perhaps have some mixing done in Pro Tools, (No cost) I just enjoy mixing and mastering, let me know!

Thank you Big Dog. I do not recall the exact numbers, but I did use compression on the narration, as well as on the final mix-down. (I still have the uncompressed mix however). I had a hard time getting the voice loud enough to stand against some of the background sounds. I'm learning Reaper though and I think that will help. The problem with Audacity is you can not add effects in real-time. So I can't be listening and adding effects to see how it sounds. Reaper will fix that. I'll probably start putting everything together in Audacity, then exporting the files and tweeking with reaper. That is my plan at this time at any rate. .I do appreciate the offer of collaboration. Perhaps for my next project, (or remastering of the older one I posted here which isn't quite as high in production), I may take you up on that if you're still willing by that time.:)
